It’s the most wonderful time of year! And what better holiday to exploit for
our enjoyment than Christmas! (Halloween not withstanding). Throughout the month of December the staff here at Republic Of Horror will be reviewing some old and new Holiday Horrors.
In the meantime, here’s some of our favourites to get you going:
Gremlins: I’m counting this because fuck you, it’s classified as horror. It’s got adorable monsters and the best of 80s humor.
Tales from the Crypt – And All Through The House: Not a movie but still my favourite episode of Tales from the Crypt. A deranged Santa, a murderous wife and some good tension. The show was really firing on all cylinders back then
Jack Frost: Not to be confused with the kids movie of the same name.
Santa’s Slay: Bill Goldberg as an evil Santa Claus
Better Watch Out: Fun little twist and a well thought out plot.
Krampus: It’s fucking Krampus. If kids getting killed by Christmas related things doesn’t get you in the mood for the holidays, then I don’t know what will.
Black Christmas: An absolute classic. Legitimately gave me the creeps when I first watched it.
All The Creatures Were Stirring: A Christmas anthology with a neat framing device.
