31 Days of Horror – Creepypod Day 6, 7 and 8

Well, well, well. Look who’s doing three episodes in one day because he didn’t write anything yesterday. That’s right. It’s me. Why didn’t I write yesterday, nobody asks? I was redesigning the website! I think the updated colour scheme and taking it out of dark background/gray text looks much nicer. Anyway. You’re not here to read about that, you’re here to read my thoughts on the Creepy Podcast’s 31 Days of Horror.

Let’s start with Day 6 shall we?

Story the first: Ashley’s Ducts written by Paul Caseley and narrated by John Grilz.

What I liked:

It’s a story about a contortionist which we don’t get enough of.

What I disliked:

Nothing major. It wasn’t the greatest story yet but it did its job I guess.

Story the second: The Haunting of the Cracked Window written by Lisa H. Owens and narrated by Heather Thomas.

What I liked:

This one is genuinely creepy and Heather Thomas is excellent. It feels stupid to compare it to the Netflix Haunting series considering it has Haunting in the title and I don’t want to disrespect Lisa. H Owens by using a lazy comparison…but it did remind of me the Haunting series in tone. A really nice emotional horror story.

What I disliked:

Nothing. It was great.

Final Thoughts:

The Haunting of a Cracked Window is a beautiful story and we need more Heather Thomas. Mild opener, wonderful closer.

NOW FOR WITH DAY 7

Story the first: Tunnel Rats pt 1 written by No One of Consequence and narrated by Danielle Hewitt

What I liked:

No One of Consequence is back in a big way with this tale. A group called the Tunnel Rats goes into a cave to explore and shit goes south. There’s a lot to enjoy here. Danielle Hewitt has a great voice for this kind of story, it teeters between reporter who’s seen too much shit and Federal Agent. It’s genuinely unsettling with quite a few good scares along the way. Best story of the 31 Days of Horror so far.

What I disliked:

Honestly I loved everything about this one. It’s great. Go listen to it now.

Story the second: Creepy Crawly written by Laugh Man and narrated by John Grilz

What I liked:

Nothing.

What I disliked:

I don’t like gross-out horror and this one has it in abundance. A man pokes and prods around in his eye and that’s as far as I got before turning it off. I can’t speak to the quality of the writing but that’s a me thing and not a Laugh Man thing. If you’re less squeamish about this stuff than I am you may enjoy it.

Final Thoughts:

Tunnel Rats pt. 1 rules in every conceivable way and Creepy Crawly got DNF’d because I personally found it gross. Still an overall solid episode.

And now we move onto day 7.

Story the first: Tunnel Rats pt. 2 written by No One of Consequence and narrated by Danielle Hewitt

What I liked:

That I got more of the Tunnel Rats. I’m really enjoying these and I’d honestly listen to a podcast that’s nothing but Tunnel Rats stories. There’s a lot that can be done here and I’m loving every second of it.

What I disliked:

Nothing. The Tunnel Rats are perfect.

Story two: Written by William Presley and narrated by John Grilz

What I liked:

It was an unsettling story. Reminded me of Deliver Us From Evil.

What I disliked:

I’m truly over stories about cops. No more please.

Final Thoughts:

More Tunnel Rats and less stories about cops. The end.
